Things To Consider Before Joining A Dance Studio

April 9, 2021 By Dustin

Learning any form of art can be a life-changing experience and when it comes to art like dance, you must find a dance studio that can bring out the best in you. To find a suitable dance studio, you can simply search for “Dancing Studios near me” on your search engine and you will surely find some good choices. Remember that choosing the right studio is extremely vital for any kind of dance form such as salsa, bachata, Zumba, tango, ballet, tap to name a few.

A dance studio and the instructor play the utmost important role in making you learn these dance forms. So now when you are considering joining a studio, you need to clear out a few things to yourself such as, which dance form you are interested in learning, are you looking to take this dance form to a professional level, what timings do you prefer for a dance lesson, etc. Once you are sure and know all the answers to these questions, then you need to consider a few things before joining a dance studio. Follow through.

Type of dance floor

Dancing comprises a lot of movements, jumping, twisting and a bad dance floor can damage or put a lot of pressure on your knee joints and bones. Therefore, when you are considering joining a dance studio, make sure that you are checking out the flooring as it must have a floating floor as it consists of a high-intensity foam that will not give you any jerks or shock to your joints and bones. The dance floor should be the first thing on your list.

Dance instructor qualification

Having a qualified and experienced instructor is a pure blessing and you must consider this point before joining any dance studio. There is no such rule of law that governs who is eligible to teach dance and who is not. But your priority is to look for an instructor who has valid certification of that dance form that he teaches and an affiliation to a national or a state organization Dance Masters of America or World DanceSport Federation. If you find an instructor who has an arts degree in dancing from a recognized university then you can say that you have found a treasure. All you need is to be in good hands to learn any art form.

Competitions and stage shows

You must consider this point if you have a goal in mind. If you feel that you can take part in a beginner or a high-level competition over some time, then you must look for a dance studio that has exposure of that kind. Many dance studios organize a stage show every 2-3 months to showcase the talent and progress of their students. This way the factor of stage fear is also eliminated from the minds of the students. Look for a studio that encourages its students to take part in various dance competitions.

Safety measures

Along with the dancing certifications, make sure that the dance instructor is also first aid and CPR certified. This is because you never know about the timings of the accidents and mishaps. If anything happens, then the instructor must know the basic steps to be taken to prevent any serious injuries.

Rates per class/month

You surely do not want to put a hole in your pocket by joining an expensive dance studio. Therefore, along with all the abovementioned factors, you must also consider the rates per class pr per month. A reasonable rate that can suit your pocket can be a good idea to consider that dance studio.

Online classes

Now that the world has moved online, do look for a dance studio that also conducts online classes along with in-person classes. This way if you are unable to attend the physical class, you can do it online. And most importantly, when you sign up for an online class, you also get the recordings of the previously taught dance lessons. This way, even if you miss out on any class, you can cover it with the help of the recordings.

Consider these points and you will surely find the dance studio that suits all your needs. Happy dancing!
